Trade Deadline Preview and Guide 🔥
Our guide to everything you need to know ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline

The stove is about to heat up and we’re gearing up to have you covered with everything you need to know ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline!
It has been far too long since our last newsletter, and for that we apologize. We’ll have much more to come soon with the deadline leading into the playoff push across the next two months.
Top 50 Trade Candidates by Trade Value
In preparation for the August 3 deadline, we ranked the top 50 trade candidates in baseball!
This is your one stop shop to know all of the names who could be on the move to contending teams in the next 12 days.
Mason Miller could be traded for a haul again. The best closer in the game was dealt a massive haul including our No. 4 MLB prospect Leo De Vries last year, but could be on the move again with the Padres struggling. He has three and a half years left on his contract right now with three remaining seasons of arbitration after this season.
If the Angels truly sell, they have big assets. Whether the Angels commit to selling off is a different topic, but they certainly have the assets to capitalize in a true seller’s market right now. Reid Detmers is going to get serious attention, but Zach Neto could shake up the entire market if they decided to move him.
Joe Ryan is the highest value starter likely to be moved. There are a couple other names that could hypothetically pass Ryan in terms in value, but he seems more likely to be dealt at this time than the likes of Logan Webb or one of the Mariners top arms.

Top Catchers Could be on the Move
This deadline presents a fascinating scenario for a few teams with some of the best catchers in baseball. This market could lead to an absolute haul being sent out for a high-end starting catcher, but will any of them actually get traded?
Shea Langeliers, Adley Rutschman, Francisco Alvarez, and Ryan Jeffers could all be attained on the market this deadline.
While the first two still seem somewhat unlikely to be moved, they could be heavily pursued to the extent where it makes sense to move them.

Top Rental Starting Pitchers
While catchers with control may be less likely to be moved, plenty of rental pitchers figure to be on the move.
Headlined by defending back-to-back Cy Young, Tarik Skubal, these group has a lot of question marks but some pitchers who could truly elevate a contender. If Detroit ultimately decides to move their ace, it could be a wild package for a rental player.
Crazy enough, Skubal’s teammate Casey Mize could be the next best option. However, Detroit could hold both if they decide to try and compete. Time will tell. Mize has been sneaky excellent in his own right this year, but has had lingering injury issues.
Veterans like Clay Holmes and Kevin Gausman will have suitors of their own, despite some questions with Holmes being out for a while and Gausman taking a step back this season.
Nearly every contender could use a starter, but only some will walk away with one at the deadline.
