Top Upcoming Free Agents 👀💰

An early preview of the upcoming free agent class and updates around the league.

We’re nearing the heart of baseball with the college postseason set to begin this weekend, the MLB season just about one third of the way finished, and negotiations starting to begin for the next MLB Collective Bargaining Agreement.

It’s also never too early to start theorizing about the top players who are set to hit the open market this offseason…

This week, we’ve got all you need to prepare for the College World Series, a look at top headlines, and a preview of the upcoming free agent class.

Headlines Around Baseball

As we reach the one third mark of the MLB season (how did that happen so quickly?!), we’ve got a variety of headlines to keep up with around the league and the college circuit as well!

College Baseball Postseason Begins Tomorrow

The Road to Omaha begins this weekend with the field of 64 kicking off regionals in 16 locations across the United States!

Our crew at The College Baseball Show will have boots on the ground at regionals and the College World Series in addition to podcast and written analysis throughout the entire tournament.

We also had Jared Perkins and Tyler Jennings on the JB Show yesterday to breakdown the entire postseason and fill out our bracket ⬇️

As we prepare for the college playoffs, make sure to check out our DI Awards and All-Americans for this college season, too.

Collective Bargaining Agreement Negotiations Start

With the labor contract set to expire this winter, all eyes will turn to future status of the league and potentially lockout in 2027 once the season ends. Conversations have already kicked off, though, with the Players Association submitting their first proposal.

Here are the key things that the MLBPA pitched in their first proposal:

These are most likely non-starters for the owners…but thankfully we have many months of negotiations ahead. Shoot high and meet in the middle, right?

Players Showing Out

While they may not steal the headlines, these players have come up big for their respective teams and are worth keeping on your radars. Our incredible editorial staff of writers for Justbaseball.com has you covered!

Top 10 Upcoming Free Agents

Injury or not…Tarik Skubal is the top dog. In what is shaping up to be a weak free agent class, Skubal is going to get paid. The superstar left-hander may be on the shelf right now, but he’s far and away the best player among this group. He’s set to make nine figures when he hits the market this offseason.

Three stud arms follow the back-to-back Cy Young. The top-available arm will leave little up for discussion, but the three behind him are also excellent in their own right. Freddy Peralta, Michael King, and Kevin Gausman can all be an ace on any given day, and will get paid for it.

No true star hitters. With the top four on our list being arms, it shows how there really aren’t any superstars on the offensive side of the ball this winter. While Randy Arozarena is having an awesome year so far and Jazz Chisholm was a 30/30 guy in 2025, every hitter available this winter has question marks attached to their name.

Trivia Answer: B) Coastal Carolina
