Top 25 and Headlines Around College Baseball 🔜🏆

Our latest Top 25 features a new top team and

Yet another week of college baseball chaos. We all thought NIL would be the death of parity, but if anything, the 2025 season has shown college baseball is more competitive top-to-bottom than it ever has been.

We’re less than a month away from the start of the 2025 College Baseball Postseason and we’re also preparing our first 2025 MLB Mock Draft for next week!

Stay tuned with On the Clock, Just Baseball’s college and draft coverage, for everything you’ll need to know ahead of the College World Series and MLB Draft.

Down Goes #1… Again

Just when we thought we settled into a consensus #1 team for a long while, a big shake up went down.

The former #1 Longhorns finally got their first true road test in Fayetteville Arkansas where the Razorbacks put it on Texas outscoring them 28-9 in a 3-0 sweep. The tone was set early thanks to eight shutout innings with a career high 11 strikeouts for Zach Root in a 9-0 win on Thursday night and the Hogs never looked back.

Despite having lost their last three SEC series, Arkansas continues to look like one of the most complete teams in the country, and showed out against one of the top pitching staffs in college baseball.

  • #18 Miami Hurricanes

  • #23 Florida Gators

  • #24 North Carolina State Wolfpack

Meanwhile, these teams fell out of the Top 25 after a rough few weeks of baseball:

  • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

  • Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

  • Louisville Cardinals

Watch for our next On The Clock Podcast on Thursday breaking down the entire Top 25!

Just Baseball Trivia of the Week

Which of the following schools has double digit College World Series Titles?

A) LSU

B) Texas

C) USC

D) Arizona State

Key Storylines from the Week

This week delivered plenty of excitement with a few teams that continue to rise and others that may start to have concerns at this stage of the season.

A Storm is Brewing

The Miami Hurricanes have not only entered our top 25 with a few weeks of extremely impressive play, but they’ve rattled off 10 straight ACC wins including their most recent sweep over what was a red hot Wolfpack team this weekend.

Daniel Cuvet continues to be one of the most impressive 2026 draft class players going 5/6 with two doubles, two homeruns, and eight RBI this past weekend.

Seminoles Surge Past Clemson

With the chaos of the ACC this season, one thing has been constant. The Florida State Seminoles. Despite dropping a series to Louisville last week, they bounced back with a convincing series win over Clemson capping it off with a 20-9 run-rule victory on Sunday.

With one of the best one-two combos of any rotation in the country in Jamie Arnold and Joey Volini, and seven of their nine qualified hitters batting over .300, this FSU club has the depth to be the last team standing when it’s all said and done.

Aggies Roll, LSU Slides

After a rough weekend in Austin two weeks ago, the Aggies bounce back to take two-of-three from the Tigers and just like that, their postseason hopes are alive and well (just as yours truly drew it up).

While there aren’t glaring concerns for LSU in the win column sitting at 15-9 in SEC play, it’s hard to ignore some of the inconsistencies in their game. With all the talent they do have, it’s easy to picture another deep postseason run so we’re not ready to hit the panic button yet. They’ll face off with #1 Arkansas at home next weekend hunting a statement win.

2025 MLB Draft Watch

MLB Draft Spotlight Player - RHP Kyson Witherspoon, Oklahoma

Despite the Sooners inconsistencies this season, Kyson Witherspoon has been anything but. A rock in the Friday Night role and a true SEC ace on the bump.

With another fantastic performance against Ole Miss, Witherspoon now holds a 2.13 ERA with 100 strikeouts over 72 innings pitched this season. Expect his name to be called early come draft day this summer.

MLB Draft Spotlight Player - LHP Joseph Dzierwa, Michigan State

In one of the most impressive and dominant pitching performances we’ve seen this season, Joseph Dzierwa continues to fly up draft boards, and rightfully so all while earning the On The Clock Pitcher of the Week for a complete game shutout over #16 Oregon in Eugene.

While he may fall in the draft to the second or third round, standing at 6’9, there is a lot to hang your hat on with this southpaw. Truly some of the most impressive stuff in the nation, and one of the best arms in the Big Ten.
