Greatest World Series Game EVER 🤯
One of the craziest games in professional sports history went down last night as the Dodgers outlasted the Jays in 18 innings.

Oh my goodness. I’m not even sure how to properly react to that game. WHAT DID WE JUST WATCH?????
For those that were able to stay awake (this game finished at nearly 3:00 AM on the East Coast!), you witnessed one of the most incredible games in the history of professional sports.
We had planned to go live after the game…but this game just kept going. Jack McMullen, Ryan Finkelstein, and I decided to just do a little watchalong where we were really just yapping deliriously from the 15th inning until the final dagger by Freddie Freeman in the 18th inning.
The much more thorough analysis of this game can be found on this morning’s episode of the Just Baseball Show.
For now, let’s try to break down the key moments from this MARATHON and all-time classic.
Legendary Game 3
This game genuinely had it all. I’ll try to keep it simple but no amount of a recap can really do this masterpiece of a baseball game justice.
Shohei Ohtani reached base NINE TIMES and did not see a strike for the final 11 innings. After further cementing his legacy in Game 4 of the NLCS with the most impressive outing on both sides of the ball we’ve ever seen, Ohtani broke the baseball world again last night.
After hitting two doubles and two home runs in his first four at-bats, he was intentionally walked four straight times and “unintentionally” walked on four pitches in his ninth and final plate appearance. He broke the record for most times on base in the World Series in the 13th inning then broke his own record two more times.
Oh, and by the way…HE PITCHES TONIGHT!
Shohei Ohtani accumulated 0.8 fWAR in his 4-4, 5 BB game last night.
That’s the 2nd time he’s done this in his last 4 GAMES along with NLCS Game 4 🐐

Both teams emptied the bullpen with 19 total pitchers used. Any time you seen even near this many arms enter a game, you know it’s due to absurd circumstances. This was the epitome of that as just about every available pitcher for both sides entered this game (Yoshinobu Yamamoto was getting ready in the 18th!!! He threw nine innings two days ago) with the most unlikely heroes emerging when the lights shined the brightest…
The Will Klein Legacy Game. Of all the the pitchers that entered this game, none shined brighter than 25-year-old Will Klein, whose journey to this moment had been anything but linear. With just 22 MLB appearances to his name and not being on the Dodgers roster all postseason until the World Series, Klein tossed four shutout innings as the last arm standing to earn the win.
Will Klein's journey to World Series hero:
- Drafted in the 5th (and last) round of the shortened 2020 draft out of Eastern Illinois
- Career 5.33 MiLB ERA across five years
- Traded to the A's in the Lucas Erceg deal in 2024 and finished the season with a 6.35 ERA across 8

Blue Jays offense was missing so much talent. For a variety of reasons, four of the top seven hitters in Toronto’s lineup weren’t even in the game for the many additional innings (an entire second game’s worth in fact!). George Springer exited with an injury after his third at-bat. Bo Bichette, Addison Barger, and Alejandro Kirk were all replaced by pinch runners to empty the Toronto bench. If one or two of those star hitters remained in the lineup, this game could have gone entirely differently in extras.
Clayton Kershaw recorded one incredible out in his first-ever extra innings appearance. This was just such a cool moment for the soon-to-be retired legend. He entered with the bases loaded and two outs in the 12th inning and escaped the jam, which kept this game going for many more innings.
Defensive masterclass from both teams. There were so many spectacular plays in this game. From Addison Barger’s dot to the plate to Vladdy reminding everyone he has a cannon to Mookie being an elite shortstop to Tommy Edman’s multiple game-saving throws, the web gems were incredible.
Freddie Freeman’s legacy grows. After all was said and done, last year’s World Series MVP finished it off in the 18th inning. Freeman is a special player, who continues to age like fine wine.
Freddie Freeman is the first player in MLB history to hit multiple walk-off home runs in the World Series.

World Series Game 4
Now the attention shifts to tonight. The Dodgers lead the series 2-1 and have this guy who is pretty good on the mound. The Blue Jays are in just about a must-win situation
Ohtani will take the bump for the Dodgers against Shane Bieber for the Blue Jays. Both teams bullpen will be absolutely cooked, but a number of pitchers will be ready to go even after throwing last night.
Nothing could top last night (never say never though!), but we could be in for another thrilling evening with so many added factors coming off an 18-inning marathon.
As the great Hawk Harrelson would say: Sit back, relax, and strap it down. World Series Game 4 is on deck!
