Dodgers vs. Blue Jays in the World Series 🔥
The Blue Jays won a thrilling Game 7 of the ALCS to set up a World Series matchup against the Dodgers.

Now that…was crazy. What a way to finish the ALCS!!! There is absolutely nothing like October baseball!!!
Last night’s winner-take-all Game 7 between the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays delivered in every way possible. Seattle’s season ended in heartbreaking fashion (We feel for our Marine Layer Podcast fellas) while Toronto clinched a spot in their first World Series since 1993.
Before we fully prepare for the World Series later this week, let’s get caught up on how this matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Blue Jays came to be in the last round. Listen to the Just Baseball Show for full takeaways from last night’s thriller.
ALCS and NLCS Recaps
Before we can dive into the matchup for the Fall Classic, let’s take a quick look at the headlines from the Championship Round!
One series was…brief. The other went the distance, being capped off last night in a Game 7 for the ages.
Dodgers Beat Brewers in Four Games
Well, this felt over before it started. Sorry Brewers fans, but this was a tough watch honestly. The reigning champion Dodgers absolutely dismantled Milwaukee, sweeping the Crew to advance to their fifth World Series in the past nine years.
Shohei Ohtani is truly one-of-one. The headline from this series was Game 4, when the one and only Shohei Ohtani had one of the most incredible performances in MLB history. I mean, this ball just about left the stadium. The man is a unicorn.
Entering today…
Only 12 hitters had ever hit 3 homers in a postseason game.
Only 26 pitchers had ever recorded 10+ strikeouts, 2 or less hits and no runs in a postseason start.
Shohei Ohtani just did both in the same game.

Los Angeles rotation is second to none. It may not have been this way throughout the season, but the healthy Dodgers starting rotation is just better than anyone else. They made the Brewers offense look atrocious in this series.

Blue Jays Beat Mariners in Seven Games
The NLCS may not have, but this series delivered everything from superstar moments to clutch homers to emotions running high and everything in between!
George Springer with another iconic playoff moment in Game 7. One of the core players from the Houston Astros’ dynasty has delivered in the clutch before and sent the Jays to the World Series this time around. What a performance from the entire team to secure the “W” and come all the way back in this one. It was quite literally the biggest play in ALCS history.
George Springer’s HR in Game 7 of the ALCS has the highest championship win probability added of any ALCS play
The most pivotal play in ALCS HISTORY 🤯

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is Canada’s superstar. This postseason has been the October of Vladdy as he has already put together one the greatest playoff performances in Toronto’s long history. His legacy is still growing, but the $500 million man has been everything and more that Toronto could ask him to be during this run.
The only players in MLB history with a 10 game span in a single postseason of at least a .440 AVG and 6+ HR:
2004 Carlos Beltran
2025 Vladimir Guerrero Jr.One of the greatest playoff runs of all-time 🇨🇦

Cal Raleigh and the Mariners’ special season ends. Let’s give flowers to the Mariners, who deserve it after an incredible season. Raleigh finishes with the most combined homers ever by an American League player while many of their players put together excellent seasons that carried into the playoffs.

World Series Matchup
With three days here before the World Series kicks off on Friday night, we’ll have another newsletter with everything you need to know later this week. For now, let’s take a brief look at this matchup and what lies ahead!
The Dodgers enter as HEAVY favorites. While the Jays high-powered offense and immaculate vibes give them a legitimate shot, the Dodgers are the clear favorite here. They’re fully rested and have absolutely dominated the NL side of the bracket.
Bo Bichette seems to be nearing a return at the perfect time. The Blue Jays’ starting shortstop declared last night that he’ll be ready for the World Series, which adds yet another big bat to Toronto’s lineup. They’ll need all they can get from Bichette in this matchup and hopefully his body is truly ready to go.
How will the pitching matchups line up? This will be a key storyline to monitor this week as the Dodgers will have every arm ready and figure to go with the same four they deployed in the NLCS. How the Blue Jays utilize veterans Shane Bieber, Max Scherzer, and Chris Bassitt behind Kevin Gausman and Trey Yesavage will be an interesting wrinkle.
THE WORLD FREAKING SERIES. This is what we wait for all year. We will have you covered every step of the way. Let’s go.
Other Headlines
🐅 Despite the Tigers being eliminated in the ALDS, they have taken over headlines this week due to Tarik Skubal’s contract which is up at the end of next season. Read the full story here!
There is reportedly a gap of "close to $250 million" in negotiations between the Tigers and Tarik Skubal, per @JonHeyman.
He'll be a free agent after the 2026 season.

🌉 The Giants are potentially going to make a fascinating hire for their next manager. Tennessee’s current manager Tony Vitello is currently the leading candidate for San Francisco’s opening. This would certainly be a fascinating and unique move.
A decision on Tony Vitello becoming the next manager of the Giants will be made within 24 to 72 hours, per @JeffPassan.
He is their top candidate but a deal has yet to be reached.

The Angels have also selected their next manager! While former stars Albert Pujols and Torii Hunter were in the race, long-time catcher Kurt Suzuki is the next man up to man the Halos. Suzuki, 42, played 16 years in the big leagues (including two with the Angels) and was an All-Star in 2014.
The Angels have chosen Kurt Suzuki to be their next manager, per @JonHeyman.
The longtime backstop played the final two years of his career in Los Angeles.
