College Baseball Updated Top 25 and Headlines
Things have already shifted two weeks into college baseball with a new top team in the country.
We’re now two weekends into an already exciting college baseball season!
With every team now having a handful of games under their belt, it’s time for an updated ranking of the top teams in college. We’ve got plenty of other headlines as we keep you updated on everything related to college baseball.
Tennessee Takes Over as the Top Team
Texas A&M’s reign at No. 1 was short-lived as Tennessee takes the top spot in our latest update. The Aggies, despite a 6-1 record, stumbled against Cal Poly, dropping a 3-2 game on Sunday and struggling offensively with just 11 hits over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Tennessee dominated Hofstra, UNC-Asheville, and Samford, outscoring them 98-11. The Volunteers’ lineup is firing on all cylinders, and Liam Doyle has stepped up as a true Friday night ace. Texas A&M will look to bounce back against Texas State on Tuesday.
The Top 25 Update featured four new teams in and four teams out. These teams joined the ranking this week:
#20 UCSB Gauchos
#21 Ole Miss Rebels
#22 Louisville Cardinals
#25 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Meanwhile, these teams fell out of the Top 25 due to tough starts to the season:
NC State Wolfpack
Arizona Wildcats
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Indiana Hoosiers

Key Storylines from the Week
Texas A&M’s Gavin Grahovac to Miss Entire 2025 Season
Texas A&M sophomore third baseman Gavin Grahovac will miss the 2025 season due to left shoulder surgery, requiring a six-month recovery. The 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year had a record-breaking debut season but saw a slow start in 2025, hitting .227 with two home runs in six games. In his absence, the Aggies may shift Penn transfer Wyatt Henseler to third base while exploring options like Sawyer Farr, Jamal George, and freshman Terrence Kiel II to adjust their lineup.
Florida State’s Jamie Arnold Continues to Dominate
Florida State’s Jamie Arnold delivered another dominant performance, striking out eight over five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. Through two starts, he has amassed 16 strikeouts, three hits allowed, and no walks across 10 shutout innings. While his competition has been James Madison and Penn, his dominance solidifies his case as the potential top prospect for the 2025 MLB Draft.

Rhode Island’s Trystan Levesque Throws a 10 Inning Gem
Rhode Island’s Trystan Levesque delivered a masterful performance against No. 12 Oregon, throwing 10 shutout innings with nine strikeouts while allowing just three hits on 119 pitches. Despite his dominance, the Rams fell in the 11th inning due to an error, splitting their two games against the Ducks. Regardless, it was a historic performance.
Rintaro Sasaki Makes Debut with Stanford
Stanford freshman Rintaro Sasaki made a highly anticipated college debut, proving why he was once projected as the No. 1 pick in the NPB draft. He went 6-for-14 with two doubles, eight RBIs, and four balls hit over 100 MPH, showcasing his plus power and advanced barrel control. Sasaki is already living up to the hype and will be a must-watch player this season.

MLB Draft Spotlight Player - RHP Patrick Forbes, Louisville
Louisville’s Patrick Forbes is quickly rising up 2025 MLB Draft boards after back-to-back dominant performances, including a strong outing against ranked Texas. His fastball sits at 93-95 MPH, touching 97, and he pairs it with a sweeping breaking ball, a harder breaker, and a changeup, all showing strong movement and command. As Louisville’s Friday night ace, Forbes has solidified himself as a must-watch prospect with the potential to skyrocket up draft rankings.
Anyone want over a minute of Patrick Forbes filth? I got you.
FB up to 98, sat 93-96 throughout the night with flat approach angle and significant life upstairs. Two breakers (81-84 and 87-89), flashed feel for a CH, too. 11 whiffs on the heater alone.

MLB Draft Spotlight Player - SS Luke Hill, Ole Miss
Ole Miss shortstop Luke Hill has always been a strong hitter, but his power was in question—until now. At the Shriners Children’s College Showdown, he went 5-for-9 with three extra-base hits, including two home runs with exit velocities of 100 and 107 MPH. If he continues to tap into his power, Hill could quickly climb 2025 MLB Draft boards.
