BREAKING: Kyle Tucker to the Dodgers 🤯
Top free agent Kyle Tucker is signing with the back-to-back champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Wow.
Well, there you have it. The top free agent on the market is joining the back-to-back champions, as Kyle Tucker has agreed to a four-year, $240 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Yeah, this is real.
Take a few seconds to breathe, and then let’s break down this madness that will surely elicit some very normal, not at all reactionary opinions.
Kyle Tucker Signs Four-Year, $240 Million Deal with the Dodgers
Tucker, drafted by the Houston Astros with the fifth overall pick of the 2015 MLB Draft, is a four-time All-Star and World Series Champion.
After debuting at just 21 years old, Tucker quickly established himself as a star in his first full (sort of) season at the MLB level in 2020. After five excellent seasons in Houston, he was dealt to the Chicago Cubs before the 2025 season.
Following Vlad Guerrero’s extension with Toronto at the onset of the season, we began to think that Tucker could become the next member of the $500 million club.
After posting an. 882 OPS with 17 home runs and an elite approach in the first half, he seemed on track for just that. However, a nagging injury and much worse performance down the stretch weakened his market heading into this offseason.
Despite that second half, he remained the consensus top free agent upon the completion of the 2025 season. His market, like most of the top free agent hitters, remained quiet in the early months of this winter.
As the offseason has progressed, the longer-term deals were clearly not on the table. But the money was certainly still in play, given what Tucker has already proven in the first six full seasons of his MLB career.
Tucker is one of the best players in the sport and now joins quite possibly one of the greatest teams assembled. If there was a hole left on the Dodgers roster, it was in the outfield.
They have now addressed that “hole” with an absolute superstar on one of the largest deals in history in terms of the yearly value.
Contract Details
Length: 4 years
Value: $240 Million
AAV: $60 Million
Deferrals: $30 Million
Opt-outs: After Year 2 and Year 3
This deal not only makes the Dodgers unreal, but also allows Tucker flexibility to test his market again as soon as it features an opt-out clause after the second and third years of the contract.
With shockingly just $30 million in deferrals, Tucker is going to make well over $50 million per year in present-day value.
There must have been some degree of a bidding war the past few days, as it was reported that both the Mets and Blue Jays were still bidding for Tucker recently. Ultimately, the Dodgers decided to hand out a $60 million AAV deal that was impossible to turn down.
Team Fit and Outlook
Yeah, this team is absurd. The Los Angeles Dodgers were already the reigning champions and lost very few pieces this offseason. Now, they add Kyle Tucker. This lineup is ridiculous.

There’s really not much else to say other than the fact that the Dodgers’ one hole on their roster has now been filled by another superstar.
This team will be the clear favorite to win their third-straight World Series and it won’t be particularly close.
