2026 MLB Draft Prospects and Summer Standouts 🔮📈

We take an early look at top 2026 draft prospects and review college and prep prospects from this summer.

In partnership with

With summer ending, players going back to campus and the weather cooling down, some people would say college football is back, but we at Just Baseball know that it’s really college baseball in the air.

This newsletter is going to highlight the top prospects for the 2026 MLB Draft, the top summer ball performers, and more!

Top 2026 College Draft Prospects

While there is no clear cut 1.01 for the 2026 draft this year, what is clear is that it will be a three-horse race between Georgia Tech outfielder Drew Burress, Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron, and UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky.

RHP Cameron Flukey, Costal Carolina

After an impressive showing as a freshman in 2024, Flukey took a huge step forward in 2025 as one of the best pitchers in the country during the Chants run to the College World Series Finals.

Flukey honed in his control, paired with his big strikeout stuff as he fanned 118 hitters to just 24 walks over 101.2 innings. At six-foot-six, Flukey offers an elite fastball averaging 95 mph and was in the zone 74% of the time, along with a curveball that generated one of the best whiff rates in the country at 49%.

SS Roch Chowlowsky, UCLA

A true five-tool player, the Bruins shortstop has built his case as one of the most well rounded players in college baseball and has a legit case to be the 1.01 in 2026. Chowlowsky posted a 1.190 OPS with 23 home runs and 74 RBI in 2025 on a UCLA Omaha run.

The hit tool is beyond polished, and with a big uptick in power in 2025, the ceiling continues to grow. Defensively, he shows athletic moves, good range, and a rocket arm. At this point, he may have solidified himself as the early frontrunner for the first overall pick of 2026.

OF Drew Burress, Georgia Tech

Drew Burress burst onto the scene in 2024 as a freshman phenom known for light-tower power, back up by his 44 home runs in two seasons as a Yellow Jacket. Despite the smaller frame, Burress shows elite bat speed and advanced plate discipline, with exit velocities nearing 115 mph (113.5), and a 51% hard hit rate.

Burress is extremely athletic with above average arm strength, and while most of his time in college has been spent in center field, he’ll more than likely stick at a corner spot at the next level.

Not only does Burress pass the eye test, but the underlying metrics make him one of the safest bats of the 2026 class.

SS Justin Lebron, Alabama

Justin Lebron was one of the most electrifying players through the 2025 season, flashing web gems and home runs it seemed like every weekend. After taking a huge step from his freshman year in 2024, the freak athlete continues to grow physically and tap into more power.

At this point, he’s becoming a five-tool player with some of the best athleticism and defensive tools in the class, and after posting a 1.058 OPS with 18 home runs and 72 RBI, it’s not to hard think another step forward is coming for the Tide shortstop.

Lebron has a wirey frame with good bat speed and plate discipline, and checks every box for pro scouts.

What year was the Cape Cod Baseball League officially formed?

A) 1923

B) 1955

C) 1937

D) 1963

Area Code and Cape Cod Standouts

With Summer coming to a close, it’s always good to take a look back and see some of the top performers from their respective leagues, so let’s dive into the true Boys of Summer.

SS James Clark, St. John Bosco (CA)

James Clark had arguably the loudest showing in the Area Code Games this Summer. The toolsy infielder shows plus speed, solid plate discipline, and good bat speed for his age, all paired with solid bat-to-ball skills.

Clark has great arm strength, and while he spent much of his Summer playing third base, certainly is athletic enough to stick at shortstop. Every bit of a top-50 prospect in this prep class.

OF Aiden Robbins, Texas

The Seton Hall product recently committed to Texas in hopes to boost their offense which was their biggest shortcoming in 2025.

Robbins took home the Cape Cod League batting title slashing .307/.391/.545 flashing some power ending second in the League in home runs with six while tallying 14 RBI in 26 games.

RHP Tyler Pitzer, Mississippi State

It would be impossible to highlight the Cape’s best players and not include Pitzer. The former South Carolina product who logged less than one inning in 2025 posted a 0.36 ERA in the Cape this summer allowing just one earned run over 26.1 innings pitched.

Pitzer racked up 36 strikeouts to nine walks, and surrendered just 15 hits, a balance of power and control he dominated all Summer with. Definitely an intriguing case heading to Starkville as the Bulldogs put together one of the biggest transfer classes of the year.
